University City Magazine features Nona's Sweets: A Fantasy Come True

Amaretto Swirl Fudge, Chocolate
Raspberry Truffles, and Giant
Sugar cookies...have we stumbled
into an adventure straight fromWilly
Wonka’s chocolate factory?
If you’re on the search for the most
delightfully decadent, premium desserts
that have been handed down generation
after generation, then Nona’s Sweets,
located at The Terraces at University
Place is a dream come true for your
sweetest tooth.
The idea for Nona’s Sweets started at
home, in the kitchen of Nick and Jo-Ann
Morlando along with their daughter
Dominica Clementi. The Morlandos
started baking cakes and desserts for
friends and family. Soon, the delectable
edibles became the “talk of the town”
and strangers were asking them to bake
cakes for functions such as birthdays,
baby showers, and weddings. Then in
2004, from what started simply by wordof-
mouth grew into a full-retail business
which offers over 100 temptations ready
to go.
Offering treats such as morning pastries,
coffee service, cookies, cupcakes and
other Italian goodies; everything at
Nona’s has been prepared right at the
bakery. “We use only the freshest ingredients,
traditional recipes and old-fashioned
baking”, states Dominica.
Nona’s is more than just fabulous
desserts: they participate in several
fundraisers throughout the year. During
the month of October, Nona’s Sweets is
offering Pink Ribbon Cookies in honor of
Breast Cancer Awareness. All proceeds
from the cookies will be donated to the
American Cancer Society.
